Overthinking can make simple UCAT questions feel harder than they are.
You find a supported answer, then start inventing reasons it might be wrong. You calculate a sensible result, then redo the whole sum three times. You choose an appropriate SJT response, then talk yourself out of it.
This usually happens because the timer makes students distrust themselves.
The solution is not blind confidence. It is having a clear checking rule.
Verbal Reasoning
ask whether the passage supports the answer.

Decision Making
ask whether the conclusion follows from the information.

In QR, estimate whether the answer is reasonable.
In SJT, check whether the action is safe, professional and proportionate.
Once those checks are satisfied, move on.
Repeated rechecking rarely adds much value when your original method was clear.
Trust good process more than anxious feelings.
