A UCAT mistake log can be one of the most useful revision tools you use, but only if you keep it simple.
You do not need to write an essay about every wrong answer.
A useful log can have four columns:
- section and question type
- what went wrong
- why it went wrong
- what to do next time
For example:
QR — percentage change Used final value instead of original value. Rushed the formula. Write “change ÷ original” before calculating.
That is enough.
Building Your Plan
Review the log regularly. Look for repeated patterns.
If the same mistake appears five times, that is no longer a random error. It is a target.
You can also log questions you got right by guessing. Lucky correct answers still reveal weak knowledge.
The aim is not to create a perfect record. It is to stop making the same mistake forever.
