If the timer makes your brain freeze, the answer is not to avoid timed practice.
It is to introduce it gradually.
Start with relaxed timing. Give yourself slightly more time than the real test and focus on staying calm.
Then reduce the time over several sessions.
This teaches your brain that a clock does not automatically mean danger.

Putting It Into Practice
You should also practise moving on from hard questions. Panic often begins when you feel trapped.
Give yourself permission to guess and continue.
During mocks, use a simple reset after a difficult question: look away for a second, breathe normally and treat the next question as a fresh start.
The goal is not to remove every nervous feeling.
It is to keep functioning well while nervous.
